Marib, NewsYemen:

The Ma'rib authority acquiesced to the demands of the Obeida tribes for their share of the oil extracted from their lands, after they carried out a sit-in near the Raydan oil field in late July.

According to the third statement issued by the Ubaidah tribe, the governor of Ma'rib responded, and delegates from the tribesmen were summoned to present the demands of the tribesmen.

The statement issued by the sons of Obeida explained that the demands were represented in 5 main rights, the first of which is “determining the directorate’s share of the revenue from Safer’s revenues, which goes back to the Valley Directorate to implement and complete stalled projects such as water, schools and hospitals, and distribute it in disadvantaged areas, under the supervision of the people of the region.”

The second demand included “the employment of young people from Ubaidah’s sons who hold qualifications in the field of oil, gas and electricity,” while the third demand came to confirm that the deprived children of Ubaidah should be given their share of the transfer of improved crude oil and gas in agreement and contracts with the competent departments.

It also came from Obeida's demands, to employ their children in Safer and to determine annual scholarships for them in all disciplines.

The statement confirmed the province's governor, Sultan al-Arada, pledged to work to implement these demands, adding, "We hope the governor will not make it easy to implement these demands and force us to take our rights into our own hands."

And in late July, the Obeida tribes issued a statement about the sit-in in the Raydan oil field, in which they demanded to prevent businessmen Hussein Al-Huthaili and Abdullah Aishan and those with them from continuing to smuggle and transfer the wealth of their country, in reference to the transfer of oil from the Raydan field in the Ma’rib governorate.

The statement gave the owners of the Al-Huthaili and Aishan oil tankers 8 days to leave, unless they have to take responsibility for themselves and their property after the deadline, according to the statement.
