Griffiths office denies its connection with the transfer of Hassan Erlo to Sanaa

The office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, denied any role attributed to it in transporting the officer in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Hassan Erlo, to Sana'a.

The UN envoy’s office stressed, through a tweet on an account on “Twitter,” the need to verify the information before publishing it, and urged media professionals to communicate with the office’s media section to verify the accuracy of the information, and adding the website of its media section in the tweet.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh, had announced the arrival of "Earlo" to Sanaa, and said that he was "an extraordinary and absolute ambassador."

The Iranian Foreign Ministry did not mention the method of entry of "Erlo" to Yemen, but political sources told "NewsYemen" that the Iranian officer arrived in Sanaa on board an Omani plane, as part of a deal between US intelligence and the Houthis, according to which the Houthis handed over the body of an American soldier, who had not announced any Details about it, in exchange for allowing an Omani plane to fly from Muscat to Sana'a without Arab coalition oversight.
