Sanaa, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

The Houthi militia, the Iranian arm in Yemen, launched a new financial royalties campaign, in its areas of influence, under the banner of support for the celebration of the "Prophet's Birthday".

Local residents told "Newsyemen" that the militia gunmen roam various shops in Sana'a, and impose on their owners to pay large sums of money in the name of “Prophet's right”

They added that the Houthi plunder campaign included large shops and commercial centers (wholesale stores) and clothing stores, and even small "groceries" were affected throughout Sana'a.

In the context, activist Yahya Ahmed Abu Al-Rajal said that a group of Houthi gunmen arrived at a store in Sana'a while he was in the city to buy some supplies.

He explained that one of them brought out "a receipt voucher and demanded the shop owner to pay 50 thousand riyals in the name of (the Prophet's right)."

He added that the owner of the shop tried to convince the Houthi gunmen that he did not earn this amount for a whole month, but they insisted on that, and threatened him, saying: (It is Prophet's right).

"Abu Al-Rijal" indicated that after some of those in the shop intervened to mediate between the seller and the Houthi members, they accepted an amount of 5 thousand riyals.
