Taiz, NewsYemen:

Some prisoners are subjected to brutal torture that reaches death in government prisons in the city of Taiz, which are under the control of the de facto authority of the Islah party, the branch of the Muslim Brotherhood organization in Yemen.

Lawyer Nabila Al-Juboubi revealed an incident of torture, with a weak vote, for Saqf Al-Muqbel, the Central Prison in Taiz, on the orders of the new prison director Salah Al-Qaisi, affiliated with the Brotherhood, in an explicit violation of the law.

The lawyer, Al-Jaboubi, said that she was surprised, during her visit to the Central Prison last Saturday, that her imprisoned client (AA) was severely tortured on the orders of the prison director after his attempt to commit suicide by suffocation, indicating that he suffers from a psychological condition.

Lawyer al-Jaboubi pointed out that she informed the director of Taiz Central Prison, Salah al-Qaisi, of the torture that her client was subjected to, and considered it a violation of human rights and a violation of the laws, and he responded to her with insults and expulsion from his office, and ordered the prison guard to prevent her from entering the prison again.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first case of torture, as many inmates of government prisons in Taiz have been tortured, and some have died under torture during the past years.
