English - Thursday 03 August 2023 الساعة 09:00 amThe political parties in Marib governorate denounced the position of the local authorities by allowing the so-called "Supreme Council for Popular Resistance" to be announced from inside the city last Saturday.
In a statement issued by them, the parties described the publicity of this entity as a "shameful act," noting that the statement of its publicity included "a number of inaccuracies, allegations, and negative descriptions that affect a general issue that united most of the Yemeni social, tribal, and political forces."
While the Marib parties denounced the publicity of this entity, they affirmed that the so-called "Higher Council of Popular Resistance lacks legitimacy, as it does not represent the real diverse resistance defending Marib and the homeland from the first moment until today," according to the statement.
A memorandum that the Popular Resistance has been integrated into the National Army according to the decision of the former President of the Republic issued in August 2015, stressing that the decision abolishes any names other than the National Army and unifies the battle command and its tools.
While the political parties in Marib expressed their astonishment that the governorate authorities allowed this type of action that harms unity, they also expressed their astonishment at the position of the Islah party in the governorate and its silence towards this step, calling on the party leadership not to neglect the sacrifices of the people of Marib and the free people of Yemen.
On Saturday, in the liberated city of Marib, it was announced that a new Brotherhood component would be announced under the name of the “Supreme Council for Popular Resistance,” headed by Brotherhood leader Hammoud al-Mikhlafi Saeed, in a move that was met with broad political and popular opposition, as it is a step aimed at rapprochement efforts between the national forces opposed to the terrorist Houthi militia and the Iranian project in Yemen.
