Aden, NewsYemen:

The media official at the General Electricity Corporation in the capital, Aden, Nawar Abkar, revealed the corporation's preparations to face the summer heat and increased loads, stressing that the Presidential Leadership Council is facing a new challenge regarding ensuring the fuel, which will contribute to the success of preparations and raising the volume of generation.

Abkar, in a lengthy post on his Facebook account, said that the load indicators are the highest load, which we reached 520 megawatts on Saturday evening, with an increase of more than 70 megawatts during the Eid holiday, while the current generation of the system reached 317 megawatts, distributed between government generation 212, of which 96 megawatts is for the turbine of the President Petromisla station. And the purchased energy is 105 megabytes, pointing out that the current control program is two and a half to three hours of operation, while two and a half hours of shutdown may increase during the coming days to three hours in the event that the loads rise more.

With regard to fuel, Abkar reassured the citizens of the continuous flow of raw fuel to the main station, Petromusila, and that the tanks are full, and this was reflected positively in raising the generation of the turbine from 75 to 96 megabytes due to the presence of sufficient fuel.

As for diesel fuel, which poses a great challenge, especially after the end of the subsidized fuel from Saudi Arabia, Abkar explained that 10,000 tons were provided to secure the operation of the stations during the Eid, of which there is a provision for two days, and there are directives to purchase the same amount to continue operating the stations for the next ten days, indicating that there is no Currently information about renewing the subsidized fuel agreement or purchasing larger quantities from the local market.

Regarding the diesel fuel that operates the Mansoura and Al-Hiswa steam stations, he indicated that during the past two days, the last batch of subsidized diesel, estimated at 9,000 tons, arrived, of which 5,000 tons was pumped to the two stations, and there is no information about the availability of other quantities for the coming days.

According to Abkar, Aden Electricity has an out-of-service generation estimated at 40 megabytes, of which 15 megabytes are in steam-powered Heswa, and 25 purchased energy is expected to be put into service next month, so that the total purchased energy is 130 megabytes during the summer season, according to the agreement concluded with the energy owners.

He stressed that if the fuel continues to be secured according to the needs of the stations, the total generation of the system could increase to approximately 350 megabytes, which is the highest generation of the system in years, and it is expected that the highest summer loads may reach approximately 670 megabytes, pointing out that the biggest challenge is the success of the council. The presidential leadership to renew the subsidized fuel agreement or direct the government to secure summer fuel from the commercial market.

Earlier, he revealed the most prominent works carried out by the Corporation to confront the summer, including work to complete the energy drainage project to operate the President PetroMasila station with a full capacity of 264 megawatts, and raising the generation of the Mansoura station from 24 megawatts to 45 in late May until it reaches 60 megawatts in late June, and work is currently underway on it by a foreign crew of the station manufacturer Wärtsla.

He added that the solar power station has resumed work this morning, and currently there is no official statement by the executing company about the date of its introduction of service due to the late arrival of the station's components and the previous problems on the land allocated to the station after it was scheduled to enter in the month of June.

Regarding the 60-megawatt Qatari station, Al-Hiswa 2, Abkar said, "The Wärtsla company took the two turbines to repair them at the expense of the State of Qatar, but these will not be among the stations expected to operate during the current summer, because the date of their entry into service is between October or November next."
