New York, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

The British Ambassador to the United Nations, Jonathan Allen, called on the UN Security Council and the international community to send a strong and unified message to the Houthi militia to stop their attack on the city of Marib.

Allen said in his briefing to the UN Security Council, Tuesday, that the Houthi attacks in Marib lead to loss of life and threaten to derail the political process.

He stressed that the Houthi attacks do not only pose a threat to the lives of civilians, but also threaten the chances for peace in Yemen.

Ambassador Allen called on the international community to support the UN humanitarian appeal in Yemen.

He pointed out that the economic crisis in Yemen, the Corona virus, and the rise in food prices lead to instability.

He said that there is an urgent need for a political solution to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and end the conflict forever.

Ambassador Allen urged the Yemeni parties to cooperate with Special Envoy Martin Griffiths and to approve his proposals as soon as possible.
