Aden, NewsYemen, Exclusive:

The World Bank said that the housing sector in Yemen is the most affected by the war, which is entering its sixth year, with 40% of housing units either partially damaged or completely destroyed.

According to the results of the third phase of the dynamic needs assessment in Yemen 2020, which the World Bank periodically updates, the costs of housing damages ranged between 5.1 and 6.2 billion dollars, which represents about 74% of the total cost of damages in ten sectors covered by the report in 16 Yemeni cities.

The assessment covers 16 Yemeni cities, namely: Al-Dhalea, Aden, Al-Hazm, Amran, Bayhan, Dhamar, Al-Hodeidah, Al-Khawkha, Lahj, Lawdar, Marib, Mocha, Rada'a, Saada, Sana'a and Taiz.

According to the report, these 16 cities represented nearly 60% of the urban population in Yemen before the Houthi militia coup.

The coup of the Houthi militia and the imposition of the war on Yemen and Yemenis caused loss of life and displacement, roads and bridges were destroyed, power lines were damaged, and oil and gas production was disrupted.

In 2018, the World Bank conducted a needs assessment in Yemen and its results were updated in 2020.
